Missionary Care is too often described in simplistic terms. Although missionary work began with the early church, care for the psychological and spiritual health of many missionaries is still inadequate or nonexistent. There is an ongoing need for on-site, confidential counseling to help them with the unique challenges they face. There are no easy, one-size-fits-all answers. Changed location, culture, and languages,coupled with new family issues and work responsibilities create challenges for effective mission work.

Questions and concerns range from the trivial to the seemingly insurmountable. It takes experience on the mission field, counseling training, and time, lots of time, to identify and address issues of concern. Some issues can be addressed pro-actively and, in other instances, missionaries need to begin a process of restoration. Unsettled issues ultimately hurts all involved and negatively impacts mission work.
